Booking a design Call
We encourage all potential customers to book a design call to talk through the options. We’ll be able to give you ideas as well as understanding the practical application of your plans.
Arranging the installation
Once delivery of your items are confirmed we will book the installation.
We do it this way to ensure everything is on site for the fitter to complete everything at the agreed time.
Once you confirm you would like to proceed we will send you a payment link.
This will be for 50% of the full amount. We set a placeholder for the dates requested for 24 hours (please note that if payment falls outside of this period the requested dates may no longer be available).
Once we have received the payment we confirm the installation dates and book the fitter.
Please note: We encourage payment by card as it gives the customer more protection under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
Preparing for installation
Decoration
- Please ensure that any filling of holes in the walls is completed before the installation team arrives so that the infill material meets the wall as neatly as possible .
- You may wish to complete the decoration of the room before we arrive. Please be aware some chalk / stone based paints can absorb the oil from the silicone used to seal around the wardrobe. As such you may wish to save the last paint coat until after the installation has been completed. You can also ask us about potential alternatives.
- You will need to remove the plaster cornice prior to installation. Please remove this from the back wall to 10cm before where the new wardrobe will be. We will trim the last bit to fit.
- If you have Artex Ceilings you will need to sand down the ceiling to provide the best finish between the wardrobe and the ceiling. This will usually need to be done as a line 57-59cm from the back wall, parallel to the back wall. This is so the infill panel and silicone have a flat ceiling area to adhere to.
- Cornice: The plaster cornice will need to be removed by the customer prior to installation. Please remove this from the back wall to 10cm before the new wardrobe will be. We will trim the last bit to fit.
Extra Materials
We may ask you to buy extra material used for infilling around your wardrobes. We do this to mitigate the risk of running out of material on the day and ensure we can complete the installation in one visit. Our installers always try to save you money by using only what is necessary, sometimes this results in leftover material which can be returned to IKEA.
Delivery of Materials
- Please check everything you have ordered has been delivered, and is in good condition prior to the day of installation.
- Please note that IKEA pack their shelving in thin cellophane and scuffs and bangs and edge breakages are common during delivery. Any damaged materials can be swapped with IKEA customer services directly..
- If your delivery changes or something is not delivered as planned, please email us to discuss the impact on your installation. We can assess potential changes to the installation dates.
- Please be aware that if we receive less than 24 hours notice of a date change, we charge a £150 fee as we would be unable to find alternative work for the fitter in that time-frame.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that all boxes are in the rooms that the fitters will be working in.
On the day
Please turn off radiators and open windows of the room prior to our fitter’s arrival.
Parking
Please ensure that there is parking available. If you live in a parking controlled location please provide the team with a visitor parking permit. If there is paid parking in your location we request that you pay for parking for the duration of your visit.
Boxes in Rooms
Please ensure that all boxes are in the rooms that the fitters will be working in. This is incredibly important and if this cannot happen for any reason please let us know as this may affect your installation date.
Onsite work hours
Our on-site work hours are typically 8;00 AM to 8:00 PM. During those hours the room is an official workspace.
Clear room
The room needs to be totally empty of furniture and personal belongings, and beds either removed or placed, on their sides, as far away from the site of the new wardrobes as possible.
Any personal possessions that cannot be moved, please cover for protection
Sealing the wardrobe
- We always use silicone to seal the wardrobe as it allows for slight movement without cracking or breaking. Other different types of filler (including calk) can crack.
- Please note: Silicone is a viscous liquid. Sometimes when silicone removal tools or clean-up procedures are applied to it, some silicone may end up transferring to the wall area. It can be wiped off the next day by the customer with a little light pressure under dry conditions. You may wish to use a silicone remover product for best results. Please note that this is not cause for a revisit but just part an unavoidable part of the installation process.
- You may wish to complete the redecorating of the room before we arrive. Please note some chalk / stone based paints can absorb the oil from the silicone used to seal around the wardrobe. As a result you may wish to save the last coat of paint until after the installation has been completed. You can also ask the office about potential alternatives.
Rubbish Removal
Please note we cannot remove rubbish, however it will be stored neatly in the side of the room for removal by the customer.
Sign off of the job
When the fitter has finished you will be asked to sign off that they have completed the work that you agreed and that you are satisfied with it. Or you will log anything that you’re not satisfied with.
Aftercare
Warranty
We hope you’ll be delighted with your new fully fitted wardrobes. All of our workmanship carries a 12 month guarantee.
Revisits
- We will revisit once free of charge if necessary to correct any errors.
- We can revisit in certain circumstances to install undelivered items at a later date. Providing those items need to be customised, this would incur a revisit fee.
- Please note we have a 30 day turn around on booking in revisits. In the interests of fair play, cosmetic damage issues must reported within 48 hours of the job being completed.
